10 random facts about me

1. I am a feminist
A simple statement which, I believe, tells a lot about my persona and beliefs.

2. I know 6 different languages.
Italian is my mother tongue and I was taught English, French and Spanish in high school. As now, I am currently learning Korean and Chinese in university and I consider this choice as one of the most engaging and challenging of my life.
I am not fluent in all of them, but I can roughly have a proper conversation.

3. My favourite colour is orange.
Relatives and people who know me consider it an obsession more than a simple preference. As a matter of fact, I try to surround myself of anything which is orange coloured, my mood is positively affected by this colour and I only purchase things if they are orange, otherwise I don’t buy them even if I need them. I also judge people depending on their colour liking and I avoid those who claim orange is an ugly colour.

4. I am in a long distance relationship.
My other half comes from Singapore and we have started sharing life and experiences together since March 2013. He is my partner in travels, the shoulder where I lean on when I feel sad and the smile I share in the happiest moments.

5. Milk and pumpkin.
They probably are the foods I prefer in the world. I am not sure if my predilection for pumpkin is due to its colour, but I love it cooked in any possible way. As to milk, it has always been a sort of addiction: when I was a child I used to drink a cup of milk in the morning, as afternoon snack and at night before going to bed. I couldn’t accept not to be served with milk and I threw the worst tantrums because of it. Now I learnt to control myself, but I panic if I see no milk in the fridge at breakfast time.

6. My favourite painter is Modigliani.
My passion for Art is restricted to a group of artists I love, this is the reason why I don’t like to consider myself an Art enthusiastic. That painter which better tugs on my heart-strings is Modigliani, an Italian painter who lived in Paris at the juncture of the 19th and the 20th century.

7. I am a Disney affectionate.
When I was a child I had an obsession for Aladdin and I used to watch it on a loop. As now, if I had to make a top 3 I would also include Mulan and Big Hero 6.
A related fun fact is that I had a pure phobia of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. She was current in my nightmares and even now, after I experienced the horror caused by the Beldam in Coraline, I don’t feel comfortable watching this movie.

8. My favourite flowers are tulips.
Besides the fact they are esthetically beautiful, the reason why I like tulips so much is because they remind me of the Netherlands. I have an intimate connection with this country, and looking at a bouquet of tulips simply makes me happy.

9. I have a predilection for crime stories.
Some folks said it’s creepy, but I just love reading and watching crime stories. What intrigues me is to discover the reason why a homicide was committed and the process which led the detective to uncover the responsible of the crime. There is to say I am pretty selective, because not every book and tv show reflects my taste: what I consider fundamental is an engaging story which is shrouded in mystery, a well typified detective and a shocking and unexpected revelation. On this matter, Agatha Christie is the absolute queen of crime story and in my opinion no one can outdo her works.

10. I have a needle phobia.
This phobia is probably the first cause of drama in my life.  It provokes a lot of troubles whenever I am requested to make a vaccine or pull blood because of related panic attacks, and it also is the reason why I have no tattoos or piercings.
